Jen's List of Artists You Should Know About
![]() I’ve decided its time to introduce to everyone some amazing music, and even though it might be known to some, it should be known to all. Whether they are signed or unsigned, these artists have made it onto my daily play list. First on my list is a band that I just recently heard about. I heard about this band, as I was on a mission to Interview a few others. They are called Artist vs. Poet. They are new, they are fun, and if I may, these boys are pretty. (Not that that has anything to do with anything. I just thought id throw it out there!) They were recently signed to Fearless Records, and I recently got to interview them. They have a great sound and they seem like great guys. And nothing pulls a great band together like them being great people (Okay, record for saying ‘Great’ too much!!!) I’ve only heard a couple of their songs, but I already cannot wait for their album! You will most definitely find yourself rocking out around your room, air guitar, dancing. Full-on rocking out. You have no proof that I’ve done that…I have though! Artist Vs. Poet MySpace Next is a band that we got a great opportunity to recently Interview, and see live. They are a new band that Natty actually brought to everyone’s attention after they gave her their sampler CD at Warped Tour. It’s a Canadian based band from Toronto, Ontario called Teeter. The first song I hear by Teeter was the first song on their Myspace. And I loved them immediately! Seeing them live was one of the best experiences of life. I’ve always wanted to go to a show where anyone from the crowd could just run on stage and jump back in the crowd, and the fans at Teeters show so did not hold back from doing that! The energy that Teeter throws into their show is amazing. Teeter's MySpace The next band I would like to introduce you to is a little band from Newmarket Ontario called Hasket. I found out about these guys because they played at the Teeter CD release party! These guys are between the ages of fifteen and eighteen and holy gosh, they are friggin good. I’ve seen a whole heck of a lot of bands, and watching them reminded me of seeing The Devil Wears Prada. Their sound is not quite the same, but the effort they put in to their shows was exactly the same. I also got to interview them after their show. And they are really nice guys who love what they are doing. They are very talented and I think I can speak for the Sound Faction team by wishing them all the best in the future with their music. Check them out. Like, now. So lets slow it down a bit. The next artist I want to introduce you to is an artist I came across while watching one of my favorite shows, One Tree Hill (which is always a good place for music.) Her Name is Michelle Featherstone and she comes from Cambridge, England. The first song I heard by Michelle is a song called “Coffee and Cigarettes.” Before the episode of OTH was even finished, I was online looking for this song. I instantly fell in love with her music. She is a pianist and a very good one at that. Her songs have been featured in shows such as Alias, Grey’s Anatomy, Las Vegas and Smallville, just to name a few. She also appeared on an episode of One Tree Hill to sing her song “We are man and wife.” “We are man and wife,” was featured in a Canon Rebel XTi commercial (found here) Songs like “Coffee and Cigarettes,” “Always for you,” “We are man and wife,” and “Stay,” are songs that I love to listen to on a regular basis, (actually, all of her songs are songs I love to listen to on a regular basis) and would love to one day be able to play on my piano. Michelle's Homepage Next on the list is someone who we here at the Sound Faction absolutely adore. She is from Ontario. Canada and is known to many as Lights. The first time I heard a song by lights was in an Old Navy commercial. And it was “Drive My Soul.” I fell in love with it, but never had time to search for the song. Then the day after Manda and Natty went to a show, Manda sent me a link saying I should check out the opening act, Lights. As soon as I heard the song I’m pretty sure I wrote back in all capitals thanking Manda because I loved that song! Lights is so talented and her voice is so beautiful. Okay, kicking it back up a few notches. This next band I am introducing you to is a fun band from Florida called There For Tomorrow. First time hearing these guys was at the Anberlin show on Oct 27th in Toronto. These guys are amazing. I’m speaking with all honesty when I tell you this. Chris, the drummer, well I pretty much had my eyes on him the whole night. AND before you jump to conclusions, it was because I’ve never seen a drummer put so much force into drumming! This guy is intense! …and Yeah, okay, he is pretty much too pretty for life…like, I’m talking mint. But that’s not the reason I kept watching him!! Honest!! The whole time I just thought, holy gosh, look at this guy go! So much force and energy. Seriously. I actually got to talk to him after the show and he is also a super nice guy. And I saw a couple of the other members outside talking to fans and taking pictures and stuff. They really all seem like great guys. And like I said with AVP nothing makes a band super great, like nice people. So if you haven’t heard of them, check them out. You will not regret it. Jen's sidenote: Singer, Maika, looks like Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. Just sayin! There For Tomorrow's MySpace Up next is a band from New Jersey called Cash Cash. I didn’t know a thing about this band until I saw them live when they opened for a Metro Station show SF was attending. They are so much fun! We also got to see an acoustic performance after the show. Which just blew my mind. Like, they are great otherwise, but the acoustic set was breath taking. These boys have talent. The harmonies. Beautiful vocals. Seriously. These guys are great. Really fun music!! Check them out. Time to wrap this up. For now! Last, but in no way the least is a band from St. Catharines , Ontario. They go by the name From Man In Ghost. This was another band that played at the Teeter cd release party, and other band that a staffer at The Sound Faction got to interview. These guys are so good. The crowd was going nuts. And I’m not sure what exactly happened, but at one point in the middle of the interview Chris, the singer, just ran out into the middle of the street for jokes!! They are also really nice guys. Go check them out if you wanna just rock out. From Man In Ghost's MySpace Round one of "Jens List of Artists You Should Know About," (that is my lack of creativity showing with that name. Holy gosh.) is now complete. If anyone has any suggestions for some bands I should check out, send them in, I love hearing new bands!
