5-Minute Time Warp With Caity: Pt 1 - Baby's On Fire ![]() Baby's On Fire is the third track on "Here Come the Warm Jets", the 1974 debut album from Brian Eno (modernly referred to as "Eno"), an English musician. During the time of "Baby's on Fire", Brian Eno was classified as a Glam Rock/Art Rock artist, over time moving into other musical venues mainly focusing on Experimental Rock and Ambient Electonic Rock. Here Come the Warm Jets was released on Island Records in 1974. Yes kids, Island Records has been around a long long time, way before they acquired Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber as artists. The album features many guests such as members of Eno's previous band "Roxy Music", and the legendary and phenomenal guitarist Robert Fripp of "King Crimson" also plays on the record. In fact, Fripp's solo in Baby's On Fire is one of the most widely renowned solo in Glam Rock history. Several live recordings of the song appear on Eno records, the first being from June, 1, 1974. Brian Eno laughed about this recording talking about how horrifyingly out of tune all the instruments were. "There’s one little bit in it where there’s a riff between the guitar and one of the bassists, and they’re so out of tune it sounds like cellos. Amazing! I mean if you tried to make that sound in the studio it would have taken you ages. You wouldn’t have thought of making it, in fact, it’s such a bizarre sound. And the piano and guitar are quite well out of tune as well. Ha!" The song has been covered numerous times, as well as appearing in the 1998 film "Velvet Goldmine" with a shockingly great cover sung by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. with accompanyment by Venus in Furs. So there you have it, folks... our first 5-Minute Time Warp, hopefully you've learned a little something, enjoyed a little music, and will come back in time with me again next time! BACK
