Tattoos (and the People Who Shouldn't Get Them)

Look, I'm all for tattoo's. You should know that about me, I have enough of them. But there are a hell of a lot of things I'm sick of seeing on people, and I hate talking to someone and asking what their tattoo means to them, and have them stare at me blankly.

I know, I know, "It's their body. If they want stuff because it looks pretty, that's up to them," but- ... Tattoo's are forever! That is a long time to have something pretty (chances are it won't even stay pretty that long).

I don't think a lot of people grasp the idea of the whole forever thing. That's a long time to have a butterfly or a fairy on your lower back, or Japanese script that you can't ACTUALLY read, but you totally know it stands for strength and beauty. Right. Are you sure about that?

I just don't understand people who can walk into a shop and choose a piece of flash off of a wall, that hundreds, if not thousands of other people already have. I mean, it's one thing to maybe have something similar, but exactly the same? I wouldn't be able to deal with that.

I just think that if you're going to commit to something that lasts forever you should at least make sure you'll want it that long, and that it actually means something to you. But I guess that's just me.

If you ever come up to me showing off any kind of character that I know you don't understand? I will, in fact, laugh in your face. ...Just saying.
