Jen vs. Starting Over.
I recently just returned to Toronto from a month long trip home to Ottawa and while I was there I got to hang out with a friend of The Sound Faction, Bailey! One night Bailey and I were walking around Kemptville and she said that this band had added her on Myspace and that I should check them out because they were really good. Bailey does not lie!! I contacted these guys and was super excited when I got a reply saying they were up for an interview. Their music aside, one thing that really got my attention about Starting Over is their bio on their Myspace. It states that they only believe in one thing which is following your heart. I like to see bands that put all their heart into their music. I really do. Maybe it's because music means so much to me too. Anyway, I strongly recommend giving Starting Over a listen. They are such a fun band!!

For our readers who don't know who you are, could you please introduce yourself and what you do?
Hello I am Tyler, and I sing and play bass in the band
How did Starting Over come to be and what inspired the name?
Well we started about 3 years ago and the way it came to be was me and Dustin were all in different bands before this one, I was in a hardcore band at the time and I think Dustin was in a rock band or something? But yeah we were just talking and we are like lets just start over... haha hence the name
On your myspace you state that you only believe in one thing, which is following your heart. How important is music and being able to make music to you?
Honestly music is everything to me, it is the reason why I get out off bed in the morning. Making music to me is even more important. It lets me express myself in a way that is not possible in any other form of expression haha its like oxygen to me I need to write music to stay alive!
Who are your biggest influences out there right now in the music scene, and who inspires you to keep pushing forward?
Wow this is a hard one as there are soooo many bands and artists who influnce me. See I love all types and styles of music I just love the feeling you get when you hear a great song for the first time and it gives you cold chills and goosebumps...honestly that feeling right there is what keeps be pushing forward. I love feeling music.

You just released your EP, how do you feel about it as a band and how are the fans reacting?
Yes we did, so if you havent picked it up yet its on itunes now lol Nah but for real we all put everything we have into this new ep. If you want to see what our band is all about this is defintily the ep to check out. As for the fans so far they all seem to love it which is great! It is one of the best feelings in the world to have people not only listen to your music but to like it as well.
What exactly inspires your lyrics and is there one that means the most to you?
Honestly I would have to say what inspires me most with writing lyrics is just life in general. I love going through new experiences in life and writing a song about it. Its what I live for.
You have a bunch of shows coming up, what's your favorite part about playing a show?
My favorite part of playing shows would definitely have to be the crowd interaction. It's so amazing when you're up there playing for a great crowd. Its one of the best feelings ever.
For anyone who hasn't seen you live how would you describe a live show? What's your favorite song to play and which one gets the best reaction from the crowd?
Our live show its just a straight up rock show. We go out there and put on the best show we possibly can. Also we like to change it up everynight so everytime you see us its a different show! My favorite song to play live would prolly be 'Take Me Away' its just such a great song and it really gets the crowd pumped. The Crowd favorite I would have to say would definitely either be 'Alive' or 'Getaway.' They all really seem to love both of those songs!
Do you have an ultimate goal for your music? Are there any things you know you want to accomplish with it?
My ultimate goal would have to be to just have people love and listen to our music all around the world. Someday I want to do a HUGE world tour. Thats what I always dreamed of when I was kid, just touring the whole world and seeing everything there is too see out there, you know??
What can we expect from Starting Over in the future?
A lot haha, we have soooo much planned for this upcoming year its insane! We are also going to be going on a lot more tours this year so please keep an eye out for the next time we will be in your town.

If you could have any non-standard super power, what would it be and why?
Haha well hmmm thats hard non standard lol well if I could, I think it would be awesome to teleport. Thats not really that standard is it?? But yeah I think it would be so awesome to just be able to teleport yourself wherever you wanted whenever. That'd be the coolest thing ever!
If you had to be stuck in any 80s movie, what one would it be and why?
Most DEFINITELY would have to be Back To The Future. I love that freaking movie, it's by far the best ever!!
What's your favorite Dinosaur?
Deinitely T-Rex haha.
If you were a scented candle, what would you smell like?
I would definitely smell like the beach. Yeah that would be amazing.
If you could have lunch with any fictional character who would it be and why?
Hmm that's so tough. I really don't know!
