Simple Plan - Simple Plan

Ok readers, let's remember back to the late 1990's. Boy bands had just been exposed for the crap pop they are, and teenagers everywhere needed something new to fill their music void. Enter the pop/punk phenomenon. Bands such at Sum and Good Charlotte filled the need of those teens to rock out and vent after years of pro-stalker ballads. While some bands from this era have faded away after 2002, others have matured through the years. Simpe Plan is one of those bands.

bursting onto the scene in 2002 with No Pads, NO Helmets... Just Balls, Simple Plan seemed to be just another product of the pop/punk fad. However, their most recent release, 2008's self-titled album Simple Plan, has proved that they have only gotten better with age. Though it's a relatively short album (only 11 songs), it is jam packed with well written songs, catchy beats and amazing harmonies. Highlights of the album include "When I'm Gone", "Take My Hand" and "Generation."

While it may seem to be catering to a teen demographic, Simple Plan has much to offer to older listeners, and not only in a nostalgic sense. Simple Plan's lyrics have matured in the past six years, and their composing skills have only grown to match them.

Seriously, this is one album you need to buy, whether you're 16 or 36.
