MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA - SIMPLE MATH

Was there any doubt that this record was going to fantastic? I hold Manchester Orchestra in the highest regard, ever since the first time I saw them play at The Bamboozle Festival, years and years ago. They blew me out of the water that day, and have continued to keep me completely rivited with everything they have done since then. Simple Math is certainly no exception to that!

Track one Deer, is a soft and light track that immediately brings me right back into the perfect frame of mind to listen to Manchester Orchestra, just calm and easy. Track two, Mighty, comes in with a blast of guitar and driving rhythm and I find myself hanging on every word with anticipation and rocking out. There is just something about vocalist Andy Hull's voice that gives me chills, no matter what he's doing! Be it a soulful ballad, soft haunting sing/mumbling, or powerfully and strong like in track three, Pensacola. His voice is absolutely perfect for everything I have ever heard them do, it's textural and passionate, and absolutely everything I look for in a vocalist!

Track four, five and six (April Fool, Pale Black Eye, and Virgin respectively) keep the album moving forward. They are fantastic tracks that really showcase the band's versatility in a major way! Track seven, title track Simple Math, I had heard a few months ago as a single, and I am as blown away by it now as I was then! It has a haunting quality to it that puts you a little on edge (in a great way!) and absolutely commands your full attention.

Break out tracks for me were "Deer", "Pensacola", "Virgin", "Simple Math", and "Leady Breaks". The entire record is fantastic, and if you're a fan of Manchester Orchestra, this record will NOT dissapoint!
