Suburban Legends - Poisonous Candy Factory

Poisonous Candy Factory is the second DVD from Third Wave Ska band, Suburban Legends. It was released on March 04, 2008, and I'm a little slow on the uptake (re: BROKE) and only acquired the DVD two weeks ago... and I can not even explain properly how pumped I was to get it!

The DVD features three seperate live performances from Deep Rock Drive in Las Vegas Nevada, Slim's in San Fransisco California, and Knitting Factory in Los Angeles California, as well as music videos for "Come Back Home" and "Infectious", and tons of extra footage from "SLTV" (Youtube videos uploaded by Suburban Legends) which include "Cribs" episodes, road diaries, and footage of the recording process for the band's album "Infectious".

The Deep Rock Drive set is fantastic, including classic Suburban Legends hits like "Hey DJ", "High Fives" and "Bright Spring Morning" and adding in new hits from "Infectious" such as "So Fine", "Win A Date" and "Infectious"! There are a few awkward moments in the recording, because Deep Rock Drive is filmed live, however: it's an internet show, and there's no audience, so you get great clear footage and sound quality, but there's just something a little awkward from time to time, still a fantastically great set, and one I watch over and over again! The Highlight of Deep Rock Drive for me was watching Brian Klemm's vocal cameo in "So Fine".

Slim's in San Fransisco is another great set for Suburban Legends, you get the real feel of the crowd and the actual ambience of the live show, you get to see the sweet dance moves, and really feel like part of the show, the downside of the Slim's recording is the camera is stationed in the balcony, and the audio quality isn't the greatest, but it's still awesome to watch for any Suburban Legends fan!

As for Knitting Factory's set with Suburban Legends, this one is the hardest for me to watch, only because of the camera work and the audio quality. The set itself is fantastic, but the camera is a little shakey and jumpy, and I get motion sickness! The audio is a little heavy on the vocal side, but if you can make it through the shakey camerawork, it's well worth watching the set, if only for the "Intro" dance! Those boys can shake it!

The Extra Features on the album are great, the SL Cribs are funny as hell, and let you see a little bit into the life of the band members, as well as see some... well... totally male living spaces... The Hot Tracks are a great view for anyone who loves the album "Infectious" or for anyone curious about the recording process. There are three "Tales from the Road" episodes, each one letting us in on the lives of the Suburban Legends on tour, it's all good!

This DVD is a must have for any Suburban Legends fan, so grab it while you can from the band's website!
