Punchline vs. Brokencyde -- GROW UP!
On Monday night, a violent fight broke out between members of the band Punchline, and members of the band Brokencyde. Alt. Press talked to both parties and got each player's side of the story. According to Cory Muro (Punchline), "Me and both of my bands have been playing music our whole lives. It is our lives. We don't have jobs, we do nothing but play music and play shows. We don't agree with the so-called music Brokencyde make. When we saw the singer outside their bus, I told him I don't like his band’s music or the messages in it. He ran onto the bus and ten seconds later, the whole band and crew came sprinting out of the bus and straight for my friend." He goes on to explain in detail what happened during and after the fight. Michael Shea (Brokencyde), spoke about his version of the story saying, "We were on our bus outside the venue before [Muro and his friend Johnny Grushecky] started talking badly to our merch girl and began to slander us as individuals. People were talking trash all day long—even the manager of the Smiling Moose knew they were bashing us.". (Read Michael Shea's interview on Altpress.com here.)
Blah blah blah, obligatory "tell you what happened from an unbiased viewpoint... Great. Now: you want to know what I think? I think that these wanna-be "hardcore" thug bands (ALL OF THEM, Not just Brokencyde and Punchline) need to stop being such self-centric A-holes and freaking out violently all the time. This is not the first time a brawl has broken out and left people injured because some idiot band couldn't handle a little criticism. Suck it the fuck up, boys, not everyone is going to like you, it doesn't mean you go about breaking people's noses and giving them head-wounds.
What the fuck is the matter with these people that what could have easily been dismissed with a wave of the hand had to escalate and turn into such idiotic fuckery? Michael Shea, If you don't like what someone is saying about your band, IGNORE IT you self-righteous jerk. And you, Cory Muro, why the hell are you screaming insults at a band from across the street? Nobody gives a damn what you think of Brokencyde you arrogant douche.
I'm speaking to ALL the idiotic bands out there who have started brawls with other people because of stupid shit like this: grow the hell up. If you're going to be part of this industry you're going to have to learn to deal with it when people hate on you, and you're going to have to learn to deal with in in a mature fashion, not brutal force.
