Pete Tremblay & The Boozy Truth - Midtempo Madness
![]() I wasn't sure what to expect when I tossed Pete Tremblay & The Boozy Truth's record "Midtempo Madness" into my computer for my first listen, I can say that I wasn't expecting what it was that I ended up hearing! I feel like I've just been tossed back in time to the seventies, and I'm sitting in a beat up van in Colorado with my best friends listening to a new record. This is exactly what my soul needed right now! Track number three "Prey for Rain" is a mellow, laid back song with a sing-along melody, reminiscent of the New York early indie scene, while track four "Party, Party, Party" is a bit more upbeat with an acoustic guitar and a beat you can't help but to tap your toes to. It reminds me of being in high-school with my friends, sitting in a circle in the park passing a guitar around and playing to each other. My favourite track, number five, "Myself The Cop" brings awesome lyrics and a chill-out song that I can't help but sing along with. ,br> The only track that I didn't much care for was track six "No Glitches". It sounded too much like they were trying to connect to a modern rock crowd, and it just didn't work for them. They are much better off sticking with the indie rock sound and doing what they do best. Thankfully "No Glitches" is only 46 seconds long. All in all, I would highly suggest picking up this record if you're a fan of bands like Boy Without God, The Antlers or Slaid Cleaves, you won't be disappointed!
