NO MORE INTERNETS FOR YOU!
I have a confession to make... I hate the internet. I hate it. The internet sucks. It's "bad apple" syndrome all over the place. I've hated the internet for a long time due to the anonymity of the 'net and the licence to be a douche it awards everyone.
We've all run into the internet douche, perhaps we've all BEEN a douche on the internet (don't deny it...) but especially in the wake of tragedy it pisses me off to kingdom come. Today is 3/11/2011, and a horrible disaster has happened in Japan, an 8.9 earthquake has ripped its way through Japan which also resulted in massive tsunamis hitting a huge amount of places. This is a time to pray that people are safe, and to send positive messages, this is not a time to play "my dick is bigger than your dick".
The outpouring of sympathy and good thoughts is wonderful, and far outweighs the few bad apples being assholes about it, and the 'net does have it's shining moments of awesome, but it gets so overshadowed by the amount of ass-hattery and general douchiness that it makes me sick to my stomach.
"Praying for Japan does nothing, try DONATING to the Red Cross." ...Is that really necissary, Mr. In-a-band-115,000-followers-on-twitter? Yes, donating to the Red Cross is wonderful if you can afford to do so, but not everyone can, and making people feel bad (specifically the 115,000 fans you've got on twitter who have to read that kind of ass-hattery) is a straight up douchebag move on your part. No more internets for you.
Wouldn't that be great? The ability to take away internet use from people who are giant a-holes about it? It would make the 'net a hell of a lot better. (sorry /b/).
