I love my friends, every last one of them, from the Fashionistas to the Metalheads, to the most nerdy of the Nerds. My circles spread far and wide and encompass many types of people. But the most elusive of all? ... The nerds.

Usually I can do a bit of homework and understand enough to BS my way through a bit of conversation. A little Google search on Fashion week, some YouTube videos of the runway, MySpace some metal bands... et cetera. But no matter what I try to research, the nerd-dom completely eludes me.

Star trek? Star wars? ... Trek wars? What?? Playstation D20 and XBOX III? It all just blurs together and I can't keep anything straight. It's not for lack of trying to understand these things, but everything is so complex and intertwined together that I just can't keep it straight.

My recent stupid moment came when Manda and Ed announced that we would be seeing The Dark Knight while Doctah J and I were up in Toronto visiting. We'll be hitting the midnight show on Thursday and my brain has been taking a beating around my nerd friends who have all been super psyched since the announcement of the movie.

I've never seen Batman. Not the animated series. Not any of the movies. Not the comic book. Frickin nothing. My friends however, know every word, every line, EVERYTHING that is related to Batman, The Joker... all of it. And WHOOSH, right over my damn head. So I'm left with glazed eyes and blank stares trying to pretend that I'm not horribly stupid

But I suppose I do the same when I nerd out about my photography and whatnot. So perhaps I have no room to talk, but I just can't wrap my head around WHY I can't wrap my head around the nerd thing.

So on Thursday, I will head to the theatre with all of my friends, I will enjoy the movie, bite my tongue and hold in all of my "what the hell is happening?" questions, and watch my friends as they nerd out for the next few days, and perhaps I'll rock with wikipedia for a while and answer my questions.
