So I've spent some time poking around MySpace over the last couple of days in an attempt to try and find something cool for you guys here. Whereas yes, I did find some awesome sh*t for you guys (which you'll be hearing about over the next little while), there's something I've noticed, and that would be MySpace-Core (The title of this article makes a lot more sense now, doesn't it, kids?).

Now MySpace-Core is a work in progress, and a bit of a theory for me, but this is my attempt at creating a new genre of music. Dont get me wrong, if this takes off, it is by no means an insult, because what I refer to as MySpace-Core is f*cking good!

There are a few key factors that make a song or group MySpace-Core:

• It tends to be techno or dance music and makes you want to move.
• It knows it's main market is on MySpace, and thus, many scene kids, and usually refers to them.
• There's at least one song with at least 30 seconds of talking before the actual music starts.
• The songs are (at least somewhat) sexual and make references to smoking, drinking (usually hard liquors) and drugs (usually cocaine).

Example time!

Porcelain and the Tramps - Quite specifically the first song I ever heard from her a little over a year ago is called "Fuck Like A Star". As if you couldn't tell from the title, this one falls into at least one of the categories we have here without even being listened to (but listen to it. Seriously. It's awesome). Whereas this isn't aimed towards the MySpace kids, this song pretty much covers the sex, drugs and drinking aspect of the genre, and also has a bit of an intro to it.

The Medic Droid - If you haven't heard "Fer Sure", you're missing out. The intro is just funny! ("And did he draw his eyebrows on with a f*cking Sharpie?). And this would be one of those songs that knows it's for the MySpace kids, what with a breakdown in the middle consisting of (ready for this one?)

And let's be honest, if you've heard this song, you either want to dance to it, or sleep with someone to it. (Hey... I'm being honest here! Click the link and listen!)

A friend of mine found out that I was going to be attempting this article, and sent me a song that just needs to be mentioned. It gets total special treatment, and that would be "Scene Kidz" by Geoffrey Paris and Dj Christof. ...SCENE KIDZ, people! This song can be taken two ways: It's for the Scene kids and they know it, and they will play it the f*ck up. Or... they're just flat out making fun of them. Either way! It works for us! This song is the epitome of MySpace-Core, really in my opinion! It definitely fits under the "Catchy as hell" section.

Now remember guys, this is a work in progress for me... and I plan on keeping up with it. So you will more than likely see this topic come up more than once, so bear with me. But until a part two of this comes along, just enjoy the couple songs I've brought up.
