Movies vs. Commercials

You remember the days when you would go to a movie theatre, settle into your seat with the popcorn, the lights would dim and you would see three or four previews before the reason you were there started playing on the big screen? Well, that is not the case anymore my friends. My most recent trip to the theatre was annoying to say the least. We got there late, which was freaking us out, but then we got into the theatre and what did we see? COMMERICALS! Needless to say we never missed a lick of anything. I will honestly admit that I got slightly miffed about the whole commercial business. If I wanted to watch commercials I would wait for the movie to be aired on television. I just don't understand its purpose really. 99% of the people in the theatre aren't impressed that they have to sit through about three or four commercials about cars and whatever else you decide to toss at us before we get our two maybe three previews. It's annoying and honestly disgusting, at least to me.

I usually go into a movie with a slight anticipation, which is built on by the previews of movies that I might possibly want to see. However, I find that anticipation waivers when I see some car zooming across the screen that you want to try and sell to me. I'm here to see a movie; the last thing on my mind is going out and buying a car. Do they seriously think that showing car commercials in movie theatres is going to boost their sales somehow? Apparently they believe that we are all mindless drones sometimes that need a little push in every direction. I'm sorry but when I'm ready to buy something I’m going to buy it. I'm already jabbed from every direction with commercials, we've got TV, radio, print, internet, billboards and oh when you try and stream a video online you are forced to sit through commercials there too before you can watch your video.

Please for the love of all humanity, leave our movie theatres ALONE!
