A few months ago I was signing on to msn, and seeing who was on, when I saw my friends name as “If I could gather up the nerve, I'd put my feelings into words.” Holy moly did this set something off with me! I don’t even know why, but it did! I absolutely loved it!! so, obviously I had to google it and see what song it came from. I landed on “If I Only Had the Heart,” by a group called The Maine. I'd heard of The Maine before, but I hadn’t gotten around to checking out any of their songs. I’m so glad I did!! After that, “If I only had the Heart,” and many other songs found a permanent place on my iPod.

I’m a Huge fan of their cover of “I Wanna Love You,” by Akon. I can actually listen to the song now! (though it is, really kind of creepy!! Its still much better when they sing it!!) I’m also pretty excited to see these guys live in Nov. I hear their live shows are like a party in your pants!!

Garrett Nickelsen: The Maine.

For our readers who don't know who you are, could you please introduce yourself and what you do for the band?

My name is Garrett and I play bass in The Maine.

How did The Maine come about?

It started about a year and a half ago when Me,Pat, and John started jamming together then over time we got Jared and Kennedy. Its been a pretty quick but awesome journal so far.

What fuels your passion for what you do?

The Fans! its such an amazing feeling that people even care enough to listen to us.

Who are some of your influences people are surprised by?

We listen to a lot of Hip Hop I think that surprises some people.

What is it like to go on stage and look out and see the crowd singing your songs with you?

I can't even describe the feeling its unlike anything on this earth. I think it would be similar to the feeling of shooting fire out of your eyes you don't know how it happened, haha.

What's your favorite song to play live, and which one gets the best reaction from the crowd?

My Favorite song to play would have to be a song called "I Must Be Dreaming". Im not sure but our song called "Everything I Ask For" gets a good reaction.

For someone who hasn't been to a show, what can they expect when they go see The Maine live?

A fun time! Its like a party in your pants. hahaha

If you could tour with any band, currently together or not, who would it be and why?

I would love to tour with Third Eye Blind because they are my favorite band of all time.

What has been your best moment for the band so far?

Everyday is a great moment because we still get to wake up and do this. I don't have a certain thing that has been the best just everyone so far has been amazing.

What's your favorite thing about touring?

Getting the chance to see and do things that not a whole lot of people get to do.

What is the most challenging thing about being on tour?

Not seeing your family and friends whenever you want.

Out of any song in the world, what one do you wish you had written and why?

I'm thinking either "Thriller" or "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson because they are such timeless songs and the video for "Thriller" is super epic.

Music means something different to everyone. What does music, and being able to make music, mean to you?

Music is an escape for me. It gives you the chance to take someone else's word and make your own story to it. Being able to make music also is awesome because I can do that for someone else.

The Sound Faction is make up of 5 girls (and one boy) who are random at best, love to laugh and make others laugh. We try to ask all of our interviewees five random questions at the end, so here goes.

If you were a scented candle, what would you smell like and why?

Space because I don't know what it smells like and then I could smell myself. I don't know if it has a smell so I could be the first unscented scented candle. haha

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?

Anyone is any of the Star Wars Movies.

What Power Ranger would you be, and why?

The White Ranger cause I always thought he had the coolest suit. He also had the coolest robot thing he turned into the big white tiger I think.

What's your favorite song to play on Guitar Hero?

I don't know about Guitar Hero but I like to to play drums on "Move Along" by The All American Rejects on Rock Band. It's super hard so if I get through the whole thing I feel badass.

Who would you want to win a date with?

Minnie Mouse. She's always happy.
