BAND OF THE MONTH: LOVEX
![]() Now, I first found out about Lovex through (not surprisingly,) Caity. When I first met her, she dumped a whole bunch of music on me all at once, all of which I honestly ended up loving. Lovex was one that stood out exceptionally well, though. Sounding distinctly of, as Caity will say in her blurb, Scandinavian rock, but still managing to have a sound of their own, is what made me love them. The first song I heard from them was Guardian Angel, because, well, Caity told me they were awesome, and she knew I always loved music videos, and this one is rad (Something you'll notice with their videos? ...They like the green-screen... anyway, watch the video here). Shortly followed by anything else she could find to send me, and the stuff she couldn't get me, I search out on my own. I've been whoring out the band to anyone who would listen to me talk about them since about a week after they found a permanent home on my iPod. Anyway, I truly love this band, and I could write a lot about them, but instead, I'll provide you with numerous links so you can go off into the world wide web and discover them on your own. If you're a fan of other Scandinavian bands like HIM, Negative, Hanoi Rocks, etc., you'll pretty much definitely enjoy Lovex. But for sure check them out, you won't regret it even a little bit! Manda's Top 5 Lovex songs: - Halfway - Anyone Anymore - Take A Shot - Wild And Violent - Bullet For The Pain ![]() Oh Lovex... how I could go on about thee for hours. This band is a complete pwn-fest. They put on a crazy interactive show and have that complete Scandinavian rock feel to them, along the lines of a HIM, The Rasmus and Hanoi Rocks hybrid band. It's hard for me to try to write a blurb about this band, trying to figure out what exactly to say when there's so much that I could include. I suppose I'll leave it at this, just do it! Hit up the band's myspace and listen to them, rock out, and tell us what you think! Caity's Top 5 Lovex Songs: - Anyone Anymore - Bullet For The Pain - Oh How The Mighty Fall - Sleep Tight - Bleeding ![]() So...if you have a soft spot for Finnish bands or yah know, good music. Do it up. Heck, have a sing-a-long with your friends while you’re at it! ![]() I can honestly say that you will not regret adding them to your listening collection. It is amazing music from an amazing band. Look them up! ![]() I readily admit that I haven't listened to much Lovex before this call for BoTM. Not because I'm not a Finnish rock person (I, just like the rest of the girls, listen to HIM, and I have seen a 69 Eyes concert), but because there are just so many amazing bands out there, and my studies take up copious amounts of time. But, I took this opportunity to use my new music time (yes, sadly I have schedule it into my week) to immerse myself in Lovex, and it was seriously the best decision I've made in music recently. The Lovex sound is what I have dubbed as "melodic metal:" hard rock riffs infused with classical instruments and a bit of electronica/synth. Their sound is similar to HIM, but with more of an electronica influence. As Natty has already said, their lyrics will make you swoon (and they aren't bad to look at either.) The Finnish Invasion is here, and Lovex is at the helm. So, why don't you get ahead of the curve, and add Lovex to your musical collection. You won't regret it. LINKS
