Caity vs. Saintbrix
I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not a huge fan of rap/hip-hop. That doesn't mean, however, that I don't see talent where talent lies! When we got an email asking us to check out Saintbrix and give his tracks a listen, I was happy to jump on it and give it a go! What I heard was a very talented young man, with a lot of smart and sharp things to say, and I liked it! So whether you're a fan of the genre or not, give Saintbrix a listen and see for yourself what he's got to say! We like to start off our interviews with introductions, so could you tell us who you are and what you do? I am a 22 year old hiphop rapper, songwritter, and record label owner from Salisbury North Carolina. Give us a little history of yourself, how did you get started with music? I started writting music at the age of 15, recording out of my brothers in home studio, I had a schedule going on Monday through Friday I wrote music and Saturday's and Sunday's, I recorded at lease seven songs. I started being interested in being in the music industry in 2008 when I was 18 years old because I knew I had what it took to be a star. How would you describe your live show to someone who had never seen you play before? I am crunk as well as my music, I inteact with the fans and I give them what they want a live performance each and everytime I hit the stage. What inspires your lyrics in your songs? Everyday life inspires me because you never run out of things to talk about, there's the up's the downs, I give my fans what they want to hear, I think it make my fans happy to know that I am going through the same things they're going thorugh. According to your bio, you had a tough time getting your music heard by labels, managers and agents which prompted you to start your own company, SPR Entertainment. Can you tell us a little about your company, and why you took that route? My company will be launched in 2012-2013, my company will give direction in how to make it in the music industry, without going through scams and high expenses. I took this route because, I was asked to have proof of a publishing company from one of the A&R's at Warner Brother Records not quite understanding what she was asking for,( BMI, ASCAP) I ended up starting a record label. Seeing as younger rap/hip-hop artists are typically pushed to the sidelines in the industry, have your found your age to be a hindrance in your career thus far? No What can we expect to hear in the future of SaintBrix? you can expect hot new music that people can relate to, new project, modeling, acting, and me being myself giving my fans what they want to see and hear. What unique qualities do you as a musician bring to the Rap/Hip-Hop table? I am a funny, entergetic, and a very honest and dedicated person. At The Sound Faction we like to end all of our interviews with 5 random questions to end on a lighter note, here we go! If you could be any music legend for a day, who would you be and why? T.I. because he makes music that is real, but also for his fans. What is a fashion trend that confuses you? None. What was the first album that you ever purchased? Fifty Cent's "Get Rich Die Trying". If you could cover any song, what would it be and why? T.I. and Justin Timberlake's "Dead and Gone", because I can relate to a lot of people I have lost that meant the world to me. If you could live in any movie, what would it be and why? Scarface, because he did what he did to make money. Thanks again to Saintbrix for chatting with us!
