BAND OF THE MONTH: INEPT

I have something embarassing to admit here: I can't remember for the life of me the circumstances that surround Inept becoming a staple on my playlist. Here's the memory as I can recount it, you'll see the big 'ol gaping holes.

2006: Chicago IL, being the concert hopper I am, I headed out to a show at either the House of Blues or Metro. Ticket in hand to see a band that I don't remember. I have been torturing myself over the past week trying to remember for the LIFE of me which band was headlining. I have poured over ticket stubs, diary entries, interrogated concert buddies... I don't remember! What I DO remember is a super freakin' RAD band opening for whoever the headliners were.

This band was Inept, this months' Band of the Month, and as embarassed as I am about not being able to remember what show they opened, I suppose it speaks volumes about them. I remember NOTHING about that show, other than this amazing band that played for a half hour. I remember being instantly into this band when they played, it was great!

Currently out on tour with Trapt, be sure to check out the MySpace link at the end of this page and see if they're coming to a venue near you: it is ultra-worth seeing them live!

Inept is a five-piece, based out of Chicago. I love these guys, I've concert stalked them throughout this city since 2006, kept them playing on my iPod and jammed them down the throats of my friends. (They LOVE it when I jam music down their throats... let's not go down the "Caity is VIOLENT" path here...) So I'm stoked to say that Inept is our Band of the Month for April!!

April belongs to a band that I had never heard of until Caity decided to make them band of he month. Thank you Caity!! How did you not mention this band to me before?

Inept. Wow! I have been listening to Inept for the last couple days and I absolutely adore this band! I feel like such a bum because I can’t think of anything to say except this is a band that is totally worth checking out. I’ve been playing their songs over and over and I can’t get enough! When you visit their myspace (and you know you will) definitely check out ‘It’s All In Your Head,’ and ‘So Much Between Us.’ I really like all the songs, but those two are my favorites!

Another month has come, and so has another band: Inept. Now, I had not heard of them until Caity introduced them as BoTM, so my experience with their music is limited. From what I've heard, they have a great sound, similar to that to SF favs Marianas Trench. The beats have a bit of an edge, yet at the same time danceable. Their stuff would be a great road trip soundtrack. From listening to a selection of tracks on Myspace, I am already hooked and want to listen to more. My favorites from the site are "The Songs He Wrote," "It's All in Your Head," and "So Much Between Us." They are currently on tour, so if you're in the middle of the country (Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, Michigan I'm looking at you!) check them out in the next couple weeks! Seriously, do it, you won't be disappointed!

As I sit here writing up this blurb, it is my first time listing to INEPT. This is the first time i've done this, however, I think it'll help me give a better review of the band. Caity has never led me to the far side when it comes to showing us new music and new sounds. Their sound is very catchy, their lyrics extremely sing-a-long. I've listened to each and every song that they have posted on their myspace and then did a little look around to see what else I could find. I have to say that I am a fan of Trapt and to see that these guys are on tour with them is amazing.

They have questions in their profile and one that really stuck out to me was the one which reads 'can we hang out before/after the show'. The fact that they want to get to know every person that comes to see them, and possbly even meet the new people that they have converted to a fan at their show is a totally amazing thing for a band. One of my favorite things about a lot of bands is the fact that they take the time to talk and interact with their fans.

After listening to their music, I have to say I have a couple favorites that I believe will be making an apperance on my ipod in the near future. I reccomend that you listen to 'Through The Darkest Days' and 'So Much Between Us'. Trust me, you will not be disappointed at all.

"And with your smile, you make everything all right".

Inept is a band that I'm pretty sure I had heard of from Caity before, but I couldn't be sure until I sat down and listened to them. Whether or not she had told me about them previous to this Band of the Month or not really doesn't matter, because I've heard them now, and I most definitely enjoy them, and I thank Caity once again for bringing another amazing band to my attention.

When you get to the bands MySpace, the first song you hear is "The Songs He Wrote", and you quickly get caught up in the catchy tune. I know personally, I sat here and listened to the whole song without even realizing I had sat and stared at the music player, when I had every intent or browsing their MySpace while I listened! Another song that you should definitely check out is "The Call", it had me dancing around my room with the volume ridiculously loud.

If you're into an upbeat, pop-punk sound, I would most definitely check out Inept. You will more than likely enjoy the hell out of them.
