Caity vs. Impulsive Decision
I swear to the lord, if I didn't have a job and a human need for interaction, I could sit on MySpace all day and search for new bands, new sounds, and new music to get into! In fact I pretty much crawl MySpace every other day in hopes to find something that'll rock! Now somedays I don't find much, but somedays I hit a GOLDMINE, and that is exactly what happened on the day that I found Impulsive Decision! I have a seriously short attention span, so a band literally gets 30 seconds to wow me before I'm clicking away if it doesn't captivate me. "Make every show you play your best one and never give up your dream." For our readers who don't know who you are, could you please introduce yourself and what you do for the band? We are Impulsive Decision from South Jersey. Five good friends bringing out individual musical influences together to make one powerful sound. How did Impulsive Decision come to be, and where did the name come from? Guitarist Anthony Massi went out on a limb, bring different friends together with different musical backgrounds and talents. Through an internet advertisement, Jake Burton (drummer), became the final piece to Impulsive Decision. Five people in the right place at the right time with no previous plans to play or write music together. This Band is an Impulsive Decision. You're based out of New Jersey. How is the local scene there? Did you find it particularly hard to crack into? Even though our style of music differs from most local bands, we have made great friends with a lot of bands and venues. We have had no trouble establishing ourselves in the NJ/Philly scene. Your album "Far from Thru" is out, how was the recording process? Well, it was a lot of work, but we did get it done rather quickly. It was 2 weekends Saturday and Sunday, that took 10 hours a day. The studio was awesome and so was our producer Rob Freeman. We will never forget the time we had in Boonton, NJ recording. It was an experience we will always remember. What inspires your lyrics? Is there one specific lyric that means the most to you? Brian's lyrics come from personal experiences both good and bad. He says "Simply Kept" means the most to him, in a sense that he lives so happy today after so many troubled years. What kind of message are you trying to get out with the band? That there is still meaning behind music. We use our music to express our emotions, influences, and experiences. For those readers who haven't seen you play live, can you describe your live show? What gets the best reaction from the crowd? Our live show is placed with intense energy and emotion, but don't take our word for it, the only way to find out is to experience it for yourself. What has been the biggest moment for the band? What has been the biggest challenge? The biggest moment for the band would probably be our most recent experience, playing live on Philadelphia Radio 104.5 FM. It was very enjoyable playing live, everyone at the station was so nice to us. I don't think ANY of us will ever forget that accomplishment. The biggest challenge would most likely be preparation for releasing the album after the recording process was done. There is so much work and preparation that goes into releasing an album that it takes a toll on you. Its not just recording a record and putting out for sale. There is a lot of work that goes into putting out a record. For the kids out there with bands of their own who are trying to crack into the industry, do you have any advice or words for them? Your gonna play shows with 5 people and your gonna play shows with 100 people or more. Make every show you play your best one and never give up your dream. Try to stay focused, and passionate about what you do. The music industry is a rough one to be in, What fuels your passion to keep going? It can get very tough at times but you have to remember to never give up. The rough and bad times make the good times even better. No matter what there is always going to be a fight, argument, or a disagreement, but you just always remember that everyone in your band has a common goal, so you can not give up. Music is what fuels our passion to keep going. The music we write, the fans we play for, and the experiences we gain all contribute to our passion. So what can Impulsive Decision fans look forward to in the future? New music, a tour, new merchandise and street teams. Here at the Sound Faction we are five of the most random people you will ever meet, so we like to end our interviews on a less serious note with five random questions. Are you up for that? Sure thing! If you could pass a law for the world, what would it be? That all shows should be all ages no matter what. We hate turning away fans! Which is worse, cheeto fingers or juice mustaches? Definitely, cheeto fingers. Gross! What girls fashion trend confuses you most? We would have to say Uggs. Are they boots, are they shoes, are they fashionable? No Who would you want to win a date with? Anthony-Eva Mendez Jake-Angelina Jolie Tommy-Reese Witherspoon Brian-Scarlett Johansson Mike-Jessica Alba Who smells the worst in the band, and how often to you feel the need to spray them down with Febreze? Haha, we would have to say that our drummer Jake smells the worst after shows. If Febreze wants to sponsor us we will spray Jake daily!
