The Glamour Kills Tour, March 2011 - Foxboro, MA
![]() Let me be clear first and foremost: my showmates and I went to this show to see Marianas Trench. In fact, we had no clue who anyone else on the bill was, but we weren't even about to miss a chance to see Marianas Trench, so we drove a good 6 hours down to Foxboro, MA to see The Glamour Kills tour. Here's what transpired. Marianas Trench: Thank god we got inside when we did, because this is only band that I've ever gone to see that has been on stage ON TIME. One minute early to our watches, in fact. We had barely made it inside and found a good standing spot when the place exploded into screams and cheers. Figuring it was a guitar tech or a grip coming out to tape a wire down I glanced up to see, when in fact it was the band, getting ready to go! From the very first note of "Foxboro can you hear me" sung like a diva by vocalist Josh Ramsay, the show was in high-gear and stayed that way for every last second of the 20 minute set. This was my first time seeing Marianas Trench in concert, but I have lots of friends (SF girls) who have seen the band a few times before, and they constantly rave about how phenomenal the band is to watch live, and they weren't kidding a bit! They stay extremely true to their album with tight harmonies and clear crisp vocals. They played their strongest songs and forced the audience to wake up and get their dance on, and by the time they hit "Shake Tramp" they had almost all of us shaking it! We Are The In Crowd: Not knowing anything about We Are The In Crowd going into this show, I was pleasently surprised to see that the band had a female vocalist! My psychitude was dropped a little though as soon as they started playting. It wasn't good, at all. I have yet to hear their recorded album, so perhaps it record is great, and they were just having an off night, I'm not sure, but the vocals were flat nearly the entire time, and the performance itself was a bit lack luskter. I really just was not impressed in the slightest by this band, as much as I wanted to be. I wouldn't go back and see them again. The Downtown Fiction: Again, I really had no idea what these guys sounded like going into the show. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful, they just sort of towed the line of mediocre all night. But you know what, these are just my opinions on it, because looking out at the crowd and seeing them rocking out to all of the bands they loved, that's cool! These bands are all clearly doing something right if they're getting peope up and dancing, so my opinions on the show are just that, my own opinions. I didn't care for The Downtown Fiction, but that's not to say that a whole slew of other people didn't love it! Allstar Weekend: This is one band that I had heard before going into it, literally I had burned a CD and listened to it with my showmates on the way to Foxboro. Musically the album was all right. Lyrically it was not the best thing ever. Live? Oh dear god. I hate to get down on them, but the show was super not fun to watch. The only thing that made me actually pay attention for a moment was the band's cover of the Bowling For Soup smash-hit 1985, which was so dull I wanted to cry. They somehow managed to take a song that every single person knows and rocks out to and make it kind of boring to listen to. Sorry everyone who liked it... The Ready Set: ![]() I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH, I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH... Woah nelly. Can someone tell me how vocalist Jordan Witzigreuter doesn't have CONSTANT severe whiplash? The Ready Set was shockingly fun to watch. Having listened to the record on the way down to Foxboro and having not liked it very much, I was all prepared to wickedly dislike The Ready Set live. But they turned it up and cranked out a shockingly entertaining show! Jordan was all over the stage, engaging everyone, giving his all, and constantly, violently (and gloriously) whipping his hair out of his face. (seriously... whiplash?) I gotta give him props where props are due, The Ready Set definitely wrapped up the show on a great note, causing the entire place to EXPLODE with the hit single "Love Like Woe". Would I go to another show? Yeah, but someone else who I wanted to see would have to be playing as well, but I'd stick around and watch The Ready Set again, for sure. BACK
