Has Fall Out Boy Fallen Out? ![]() Fall Out Boy has had a solid grip on the rock scene for quite some years, it seems you can't go anywhere without seeing t-shirts, hearing it on the radio, or seeing that ever-familiar bat-heart Clandestine logo. Hardcore fans of Fall Out Boy are reeling after a series of statements from various band members indicating that there has been a falling out, and the future remains unclear if Fall Out Boy will ever play together again or not.
Singer Patrick Stump verified the rumors by saying "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now." He went on to explain that the situation is much like Stephen Tyler and Aerosmith saying "One way or another, the band will always be around… Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith." Stump has started his own solo-project in which the singer will be writing, producing, and performing all of the instruments for the record himself. In a recent blog post called "To Make It Perfectly Clear", bassist Pete Wentz admits that the future of Fall Out Boy is unclear. The blog post is as follows: i dont know the future of fall out boy. its embarrassing to say one thing and then have the future dictate another. as far as i know fall out boy is on break. (no one wants to say the “h” word). as much as i dont have a solo project, i also cant predict that id ever play in fall out boy again. not due to personal relationships as much as a band we grew apart. in this statement id like to include there is the possibility that fob will play again with out me or i will be a part of it when everyone is on the same page. it is no ones fault and there is no animosity about the decision. i felt as fans you deserve to know. there is no singular reason for this. the side projects or bands are supported by all members of the band. i am the single biggest fan of fob and if this is our legacy than so be it. i am proud of it. The post on his blog caused a virtual shit-storm among Fall Out Boy fans ranging from blaming one band member or another, to pleads not to break up, and inspirational stories of how Fall Out Boy has touched their lives. Drummer Andy Hurley got in on the action as well, posting on his twitter "I quit too." He later went on to say: "I didn’t really quit, by the way. Everything is being blown way out of proportion… I’ll still be touring the world, somehow, someway. [I] don’t have any light to shed. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I feel it will be ok in the end, but I don’t know. Honestly.” For now it seems like a waiting game for fans of the band, clinging to hope. We at The Sound Faction know that our readers are totally boss and would never sink to a lame level, but we ask that fans try to stay respectful. It seems like respect for someone flies by the wayside in an instant when these things happen, so take a deep breath, listen to your favourite FOB record, and remember: que sera sera. In closing, the future of FOB is unknown, it's not looking great at the moment, but Patrick Stump assured everyone that they will do what is for the best. "Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons." BACK
