FEEL NEVER REAL - VS. THE SEA OF DISEASE

You long-time readers know me, I keep it real, and I don't sugar-coat stuff. If I don't like something, I'm going to let you know that. I hate to say it, but I am not going to be the next biggest fan ever of Feel Never Real.

Here's my issue with the band, it is certainly not that they aren't talented, they are chalk full of talent, however, it's the same-old, same-old formula. Gravelly vocals, yelling at the top of the lungs, gunfire kick drum, power chords and ready for the radio.

The band is certainly not bad in any way shapre of form! Is their music my specific cup of tea? No. But I am able to put my personal tastes aside and be objective when I review a record outside of my normal genre. I absolutely see the appeal of this for kids who are just getting into the hard rock/alt. rock genre and perhaps who don't remember all of the bands that sound just like this for the past ten years.

The low track for me was actually the title track "Sea Of Disease". There was just something dissonant about it, that I couldn't get a read on, but the entire track just seemed to be missing something, or just a little bit off.

I will say that I wholly enjoyed the track "Good Enough" which absolutely gave a new perspective on the ballad-style of the genre. When the vocalist takes it down a notch from the "stressed to my vocal limits" style of singing, his voice is absolutely fantastic, and it is really showcased in Good Enough.
