Metro Station - Toronto, ON: October 26, 2008

Do you know what the best thing is about going to a live show? It's going with your best girlfriends and not worrying about where you are going to stand, or anything else for that matter. It痴 about having a good time and not caring. So, on October 26 Manda, Jen and I headed down to the Kool Haus to catch a show by none other than Metro Station. Now, Manda had a chance to interview them before the show (which will be live soon - us here at the Sound Faction do have a regular life schedule, like full time jobs), and were excited to be able to get to see them live again. We hung around outside, watched the fans in line and then we ourselves waited in line. You have to realize something from us, we aren't used to being at the back of the line. We are those girls that camp out over night to see our favorite bands. Yes, we know, you like to call us the crazy ones, but none the less that痴 what we normally do. After getting through security we headed into the venue and stood behind the sound board waiting for the show to start. It wasn't long after that the first band took the stage.

Cash Cash from Roseland, New Jersey were the first band to take the stage. At first I was a little taken aback by the band, mostly due to their clothing style. However, before the first song was even done, I found myself enjoying everything that was tossed towards me. From Electric Hearts to Breakout you seriously won't stop bopping to the beat that gets into your head. Of course there is the single Party In Your Bedroom. I dare you to listen to that song and try and get it out of your head. Trust me, you won't. It's been in mine since the first second I've heard it. Needless to say, I picked up a copy of their EP and loaded it onto my iTunes and away we went. Cash Cash is a band that I would recommend you listening to.

Next up was White Tie Affair. I have to admit, like Cash Cash, I didn't know who this band was or what style of music they would be playing. The Chicago band surprised me. They had amazing songs and amazing stage presence. Don't ask me which songs they played or anything of that nature, I just know that I really enjoyed the music. I also now have to say that this band is a featured artist on SilverBees (who is my iPod by the way). I'm hoping that sometime in the near future I will be able to get to see them again.

The next act is not one that I am familiar with nor do they have a style of music that I知 actually fond of. Tyga comes from Compton, California and the only fact I know about him is that he is the cousin of a member of Gym Class Heros. I'm going to be completely honest with you here and say that I didn't exactly see how he fit in with the tour. His sound was completely different from the other bands playing (but at the same time, I do enjoy when bands bring out diverse opening acts with them). I'm hoping that the other girls had a chance to take in the set and maybe they can fill you in on what happened, or even if you enjoyed his performance, drop us a line and let us know.

Then the headlining act for the "DISCO BALLS & BLOW UP DOLLS TOUR", the one that all the people were there to see, METRO STATION.

Now, this would be my fourth time seeing Metro Station live and each time I had a blast just dancing and enjoying the music. This time, I wasn't disappointed at all. I'm going to say that in a way Metro Station is one of my guilty pleasure bands. They started out their set being electric and ended on an amazing note with Control. Of course, the weirdest part of the night came when Trace asked who was going to buy him drinks after and maybe a handful of people there were actually able to do that. Sometimes, I feel older then is good, especially when you are surrounded by people who are sometimes ten years younger than yourself and you're rocking out to the same music. However, that being said, music is what brings the people together and age doesn't really factor in now does it? Back to the point here, Metro Station. If you want to attend a good dance party, hear songs that will make you want to shake your hips and just sing along to some catchy tunes, and I think that the next time Metro Station is in your town, you should purchase yourself a ticket and go. I know a lot of people rag on the band for various reasons, but in the end we should all enjoy the music and let it speak for itself.

I don't know about you, but I don't mind "shaking it" from time to time and I知 sure the next time Metro Station hits up town, I知 going to be there too. I might not be in the front row, but I値l be there, maybe I値l be behind the sound board again dancing my heart out with my girls. And maybe, just maybe I値l see you there!
