Bring Me The Horizon - Toronto, ON: December 8, 2008
Sound Faction Guest Review by Joanna!
![]() Hey there, my name is Joanna and I’m a huge fan of The Sound Faction. I think the ladies that work on this site are the sh*t, and make me happy in the pants. I was beyond excited when they gave me the okay to write a review for a wicked show I saw last week. I don’t know if any of you have heard of a little band called Bring Me The Horizon. They’re from the UK and the band members range between 18-20. These boys seem to have made it pretty big at least in Toronto where they played a sold out show at the Opera House on Monday December 8th. Ever been there? Let me start off by saying the venue itself is pretty kickass. Located on Queen St. and Broadview it is the easiest place to get to except it takes forever to get inside. Showing up just 20 minutes after the doors opened at 6:00pm we didn’t get in until 7:00pm. I bought some sexy merch (a shirt that says Bring Me The Horizon Make Me Wet – and they do) and headed up to the balcony. Getting a comfy seat I braced myself for the show I was about to watch. As half the crowd threw down the other half had their cell phones out recording and taking pictures of the first two bands; Confide and The Ghost Inside, Misery Signals weren’t there due to illness –insert sad face here-. After setting up the stage for BMTH the lights turned down and the crowd cheered. Oliver Sykes, Bring Me The Horizon’s vocalist came out and started with my favourite song Diamonds Aren’t Forever. I never would’ve thought I’d have so much fun even though I wasn’t in the front but I did and I had an amazing time. As the concert came to an end and the band left their last stage the crowd started calling them back (louder then any other concert I’ve ever been to) “One More Song, One More Song”. I’ve been to a lot of shows and they usually won’t come out, or at least the crowd dies down, but these kids were crazy. The band came back out and suggested different songs for them to play and the crowd chose "Tell Slater Not To Wash His D*ck". But only on one condition… they’d play the song as long as everyone crowd surfed and gave Oli a high five, at least once. The crowd went wild. The second they started playing it was like a swarm of bees. Kids managed to climb on top of other kids and the barricade literally disappeared. Surprised? I was. And I was definitely bummed that I wasn’t in the crowd at that point. Once the majority of the crowd was squashed between the barricade and the stage Oli told them to get on the stage “If you know the words get up. Get up here right now. Get The F*ck Up Here.” And they did. Watch the video here. Bring Me The Horizon give one hell of a show. I don’t think I’d ever forget it. If you get the chance, they’re one band I suggest everyone goes to see. Thanks for reading, I’ll see you guys at the next show. - Joanna Glezakos
