Manda vs. Army of Freshmen

Personally, I found Army of Freshmen last summer when they were on the Get Happy tour, and not only is their music awesome, but they're adorable guys! Caity, The Doc, and myself were hanging around the venue all day (because we're cool like that), and around lunch time or so, busses start pulling in, and then a little while later, this guy comes up to us and asks if we know where there's a laundromat. We point him in the right direction, and he thanks us. A few minutes later, he comes up with a bag of clothes and asks if we could maybe give him a ride over there. This just happened to be Chris, the lead singer for AoF. So, of course, we give him a ride, and promise to take him back to get them later, we also later take them to get some lunch, teach him how to properly say Orono (as in Orono, ME), and tell him to say something awesome about the Red Socks to win over the crowd.

...It was an awesome day, really, haha! But anyway, I was lucky enough to get to talk to Chris again, and have him answer a few questions for us. Enjoy guys!

We'll start off with roll call! Who are you, and what do you do for the band?

Chris- I sing and jump around alot.

For people who have never seen you play, how would you describe your live show?

Fun! Energetic! Sweaty!

You just got back from your Summer "No Van's Land Tour", how did it go? Any good tour stories?

Hmm. Well no one died. That's always a plus. Gas was expensive. We almost got arrested for shooting fire works off in several states. That's about it.

What are you most looking forward to now that you're home?

Good sleep and food. You tend to get neither on the road.

How has the reaction been for your new album "Above the Atmosphere" in comparison to your other albums?

Good, too early to tell, but we love it!

What can we expect to hear in the future from Army of Freshmen?

Music. : > )

What are your major influences when writing your music, and what's the one influence that people are surprised to hear about?

Well we all have very different tastes but I think people would be surprised to know I love folk music and Kia loves Metal!

What's been your best moment as a band so far?

The festivals we've played like Summersonic in Japan and Download in England stand out as being special.

Do any of you have any quirky pre or post show rituals?

We do a little chant of whatever slogan we're into at the time.

Whats your favourite thing about your fans? Do you have any quirky fan stories?

How nice they are. It would suck to have angry fans.

The Sound Faction is make up of five girls (...and Ed) who are random at best, love to laugh and make others laugh. We try to ask all of our interviewees five random questions at the end, so here goes.

What is one piece of clothing that you can't live without, and why?

A good hat. Makes the man.

If you could be any old school "Rock God" for a day, who would you be, and how would you abuse the power?

Elvis and preferably not on the day he died. I'd pick up ladies... lots of um! TCB baby!

Which is worse: Cheeto fingers, or juice mustaches?

Mustaches.

What fictional character would you want to meet, and why?

Hmm. Good question. Rocky Balboa.

What is your favourite flavour of cookie?

My Aunt Nette's chocolate chip.

Thank you again for taking the time to talk to us!

No... thank you!

Thanks again to Chris from Army of Freshman for talking with us, and make sure to check them out on their MySpace. Trust us, you won't regret it. They're awesome!
